Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, the research arm of the global equipment vendor, has opened one of the world’s largest
green telecoms research centers in Australia, in conjunction with the
University of Melbourne.
Japanese carrier
NTT DoCoMo will launch a
new smartphone division on April 1 to boost planning and implementation of multimedia services, mobile content, Web portals and security.
Telecom Italia has contracted
Nokia Siemens Networks to
upgrade 7,000 base stations to 4G LTE, following tests of the technology in Turin.
