UK Premier League football club Fulham has rolled out a new LAN from Juniper Networks, to meet growing demand for bandwidth from its turnstiles, TV networks, and sports reporters at its London stadium.
Alcatel-Lucent and
CanaLink will deploy a new 2,000 km submarine cable linking southern Spain with the Canary Islands in
multi-million Euro contract due for completion 1H11. The cable will offer up to 5.12 Tbps of capacity.
Ofcom, Consumer Focus and the Communications Consumer Panel, have launched a consumer guide to the
best mobile deals, which includes an online bill tracking service providing automatic analysis of monthly costs.
French telecom regulator
Arcep has
published its draft decision on the terms of access to France Telecom's ducts for fibre rollouts, proposing a simplified pricing model, but has extended consultation until 27 May.
US carrier
Verizon Wireless is
in talks with a number of smaller rural carriers to license its wireless spectrum to expedite the rollout of faster wireless broadband in remote areas.
Nokia Siemens Networks is upgrading South African carrier
Cell C’s radio access and backbone network, and won a separate
managed services contract with the telco. In an unrelated move, the vendor will
outsource management of its Italian Radio Access division to local IT firm
Value Team for three years, starting May 15.
