O2 Germany passed an “important milestone,” yesterday as it launched a pilot LTE network in Munich, CEO René Schuster said. The carrier has three other pilot networks in development, two of which are in rural areas.
 
Nokia Siemens Networks has invested £4m (€4.8 million) into UK-based OpenCloud, which provides real-time application server software. Existing investors Advent Venture Partners and No 8 Ventures have tipped in another £1m, OpenCloud said.
 
Swisscom has made a €256 million play for control of Italian ISP FastWeb. The firm has offered €18 per share for the roughly 18% of outstanding shares, and plans to de-list FastWeb from the Milan stock exchange.
 
Google is not one of the 70 firms that have applied to provide internet mapping services in China, China Daily reported Thursday.
